Welcome to scihigh, an outreach program bringing science to students from kindergarten to grade 12 in Toronto and surrounding areas. We want to show kids first-hand how exciting health research can be! Browse our site to find out who we are, how to book a visit to your school or community group, what to expect when we visit, and things you can try at home. We've also included links to other websites that you may find helpful and interesting. Scihigh volunteers travel to Toronto area schools (at no expense to schools) to share their enthusiasm and love of science. Our volunteers are graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and staff at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, the University of Toronto, and the Hospital for Sick Children. The primary focus of our presentations is genetics. We also hold an annual Science Fair for intermediate students and Summer Internships for high school students. Please visit our students section of this website for more details on these programs. Financial support for this program is provided by the Government of Ontario, the law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, NSERC and by the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute. |
